After announcing their Unraveled EP earlier in the week, Sweet Pill has officially shared its first track, “Cut.”
In an Instagram post, the band shared, “We’ve all been hard at work on something very special behind the scenes – a new way to listen to a few of our favorite Sweet Pill songs. Our music is generally known for its high energy but we collectively felt the need to showcase what else is behind each song when stripped back – whether that be the guitar melodies, intricate rhythms, but most of all Zayna’s [Youssef] vocals.”
Youssef herself shared, “To wrap up this era of Sweet Pill and before we start the next one, we decided to share and reimagine these songs one last time. Through these last two years, we’ve been constantly performing these songs from ‘Where The Heart Is’ LP and ‘Starchild’ EP and they have continually morphed and changed.”
She added, “In the ‘Unraveled’ EP we show the true vulnerability these songs have. For me personally, I go out of my comfort zone and I don’t rely too much on belting. I don’t do that often and I tend to not be so confident with my falsetto and softer bits. But we all pushed ourselves and created something you may not expect from Sweet Pill. I learned so much from this and my ability. I can’t wait to apply it to LP 2 and show the world just how versatile Sweet Pill can be.”
