Since Sum 41 are planning to tour well through the spring, fans eagerly waiting for the group to re-enter the studio and bash out some more floor-shaking alt-punk anthems will have to hang tight at least a little longer.
But in the meantime, the group is packing its “Motivation” single with live versions of “All She’s Got,” “Crazy Amanda Bunkface” and “It’s What We’re All About.”
In addition, on March 26, Sum 41 will release the DVD Introduction to Destruction (Video Treats to Move Yo Feets), which features live footage, backstage antics and all of the band’s videos – “Fat Lip,” “In Too Deep,” “Motivation” and “Makes No Difference.”
The band is now in Europe, where it is making up dates postponed after September 11. On April 1, Sum 41 return to the States for the Sum Like It Loud tour. Is it mere coincidence that Sum 41 chose 4/1 as the kickoff date? Probably, but aside from its numeric significance, April Fools’ Day seems appropriate for the impish Canadian rockers with a penchant for pranks.
Sum 41 are still touring to support their multiplatinum All Killer No Filler, released in May. After they finish the Sum Like It Loud tour, they’ll return to the studio to work on their next record. They’re considering working with either Greig Nori, who produced their first album, Half Hour of Power (2000), or Rick Rubin, who recently worked with them on a new version of the Half Hour track “It’s What We’re All About.”
