Staind Performs Live Only on AOL For Broadband

America Online, Inc. today announced that Staind will perform a live special edition of BroadBAND Rocks(TM), broadcast exclusively on AOL(R) for Broadband on May 17 at 8:00 PM at AOL Keyword: Staind. AOL members will be able to watch the band perform hits from their certified Platinum albums and songs from their new CD, 14 Shades of Grey, scheduled for release on May 20 on Flip/Elektra. The show will take place at New York City’s Manhattan Centre.

“AOL for Broadband has become one of the most popular destinations for online music exclusives, special concert events, and previews,” said Lisa Hook, President, AOL for Broadband, Premium and Platform Services. “By broadcasting this live concert with Staind, AOL for Broadband is giving its members an exclusive opportunity to see the band perform its latest songs before their new CD hits store shelves.”

“Staind live from New York City is the second concert this month that AOL for Broadband members are getting the exclusive opportunity to watch live online as well as on-demand after the performance,” said Bill Wilson, General Manager, AOL Music. “Our members had an overwhelming response to the Foo Fighters live performance on May 1 from Washington, DC with over 350,000 streams of the show in the first 48 hours, and we expect another enthusiastic response for Staind. Artists and the music industry at large have embraced AOL Music and AOL for Broadband as a valuable marketing and promotion partner to debut music, offer intimate performances and broadcast live concerts to millions of fans around the world.”

The Staind event is another example of exclusive programming that can only be found at AOL Music. BroadBAND Rocks and Sessions@AOL – which are streamed by over a million people each week – together with other AOL Music programs such as First Listen and First View, have helped make AOL Music the #1 online music destination, with over 15 million monthly visitors (Media Metrix).

With chart-topping international success, multi-platinum album sales and critical accolades, STAIND-singer AARON LEWIS, guitarist MIKE MUSHOK, bassist JOHNNY APRIL and drummer JON WYSOCKI-are leaving an indelible mark on the contemporary music scene. 14 SHADES OF GREY (Flip/Elektra)-the band’s fourth album-is set for release May 20. The album’s first single, “Price To Play” debuted in the Top Ten at three radio formats (Alternative Rock 10*, Active Rock 6* and Mainstream Rock 8*). The band’s last album, the quadruple platinum BREAK THE CYCLE (Flip/Elektra), became a certified global smash, fueled by the moody, introspective singles “It’s Been Awhile,” “Fade,” “For You” and “Epiphany.” Writing in the Los Angeles Times (6/30/01), Robert Hilburn praised the band’s “dark, pulverizing music,” further noting “Staind’s Aaron Lewis writes with a human, convincing edge.” STAIND’s introspective intensity was also displayed on their 2002 gold-certified DVD MTV Unplugged.
