Squeeze Is Officially Broken Up

The long-rumored breakup of Squeeze is now official. Lead singer-guitarist Glenn Tilbrook said that he and partner Chris Difford have gone their separate ways, but he wants everyone to know that there’s no acrimony involved.

“It has broken up,” he says. “Not broken up in the sort of ‘we’re never speaking to each other, nor setting foot inside the same building’ sort of way at all, but broken up in the sense I can’t really see what would bring us together at the moment, nor for the foreseeable future. Although, you know, we see each other fairly regularly, and our channels of communication are open and clear, you know, so that’s good.”

Tilbrook released his debut solo album, The Incomplete Glenn Tilbrook, earlier this year and played a solo acoustic tour across North America. He kicks off a new round of U.S. shows tomorrow (November 6) at the IOTA Club & Cafe in Arlington, Virginia.
