Ahead of their support slot on Silverstein’s 25 Years Of Noise Tour alongside Thursday and a yet-to-be-announced group, Split Chain has unleashed their punk-fueled take on Type O Negative’s “I Don’t Wanna Be Me.”
The track stands as one of Type O Negative’s most iconic songs (it is their most streamed release on Spotify), featured on their 2003 full-length album Life Is Killing Me. Combining the Peter Steele-led band’s dark doom metal with surprisingly poppier elements, the track is a more accessible approach to their gothic metal sound. Split Chain leans into the poppiness of the track while injecting it with plenty of punk-inspired instrumentation and vocals.
“It’s a different vibe, more punk-y and fast, but we feel it encapsulates our fun side,” the band shares. Check out Split Chain’s cover of “I Don’t Wanna Be Me” below.
Split Chain will hit the road with Silverstein and Thursday, kicking off on January 10 in Philadelphia, PA, and then wrapping on February 15 in Montreal, QC. Check out their full touring schedule below and purchase tickets to see them live here.
