Orlando-based heavy rockers Spirit Leaves just dropped a heavy-hitting, and deeply insightful new track “Zealot,” out via InVogue Records.
Band vocalist Brandon “XZYLO” Waskiewicz shares, “This song is about the devil vs god. And how the devil can present itself in a godly form, leading people down terrible paths with no return. Regardless of how many times you yell and scream for them to stop, it doesn’t matter. It’s already too late.”
The artist continues, “The story is of somebody being indoctrinated into a cult, and I’m watching this terrible thing happen to someone I care about, but can’t stop. Who and where does it end? Watch our music videos to find out more.”
Check out the new track below.
In mid-January, Spirit Leaves will be on the road supporting Varia alongside Brave New World on the Varia Leaves Tour. Check out their run below and grab tickets here.

“Zealot” Lyrics:
Faith in gods that curate a bstrd flame
(Taking over)
One taste appearing so harmless
It bears a fruit
Sweet lips infected by ruin
Your claims of heaven drown in sin
God dammit
Don’t you see you’re in pain?
You f**king zealot
Buried pieces of
A life you’ve thrown away, go be the victim
Foreign hands pull you past the edge
No chance my words could say what’s ahead
Wishing I could change new fictions of your end
Forgiveness is repent
But nothing will contend
Who knew that worshiping gods in sadist lands
Would be the hymn that you lust for
(Taking over)
Their love is all but a sacrifice
That much I know
Black embers light the inferno
Foreign hands pull you past the edge
No chance my words could say what’s ahead
Wishing I could change new fictions of your end
Forgiveness is repent
But nothing will contend
Heavens fall beyond the grave
Your withered skin
Takes shape in the empty
Graces from your god
In exchange
For your soul
Zealot!
The devil smiles on the sycophant he created
Made all your pain, their suffering
God dammit
You f**kin zealot
Foreign hands pull you past the edge
No chance my words could say what’s ahead
Wishing I could change new fictions of your end
Forgiveness is repent
But nothing will contend
