Following the announcement of their upcoming album If That Makes Sense, Spacey Jane is back with a new single and visualizer for “How To Kill Houseplants.” Preceded by the release of single “All The Noise,” this new offering is a song that encompasses the bittersweetness of heartbreak.
Lead singer Caleb Harper says of the relationship metaphor, “I feel awful and I want to save this thing and I don’t know how to do it. I should know how to do this by now, but I don’t: I’ve killed 35 creeping ivies.”
Check out the new song below and stay tuned for the album release on May 9.
Regarding If That Makes Sense, Spacey Jane shares, “This album isn’t trying to be anything in particular. Sometimes it is sure of itself and other times it whispers uncertainty. It feels like a contradiction of forgiveness and anger, love and breakdown and that’s what I was trying to reconcile in the title.”
They add, “It’s hard to give it a theme other than an overwhelming sense of confusion and a less than successful attempt to tie up emotional loose ends. We went to the U.S., we put our faith in new collaborators and finished making a self-funded record without a label home for it. We stepped off the cliff every day and loved it and we have never been happier with our work than we are now.”
