Show host Conan O’Brien kicked off the 98th Oscars with a montage, all while dressed as Weapons‘ Aunt Gladys. He looked great with that red bob, obviously! Once the awards ceremony began, Aunt Gladys actress Amy Madigan took home the first award of the night: Best Supporting Actress.

During her acceptance speech, she shared, “First and foremost, I just have to thank Zach Cregger, our writer and director. He just wrote a dream part and let me just grab it by the throat. And, um, we had a ball.” She also thanked her fellow nominees, her children, and her beloved partner, Ed Harris. We have nothing but respect for our creepy witch aunt…who is now an Oscar winner!

Additionally, Guillermo del Toro‘s Frankenstein team took home three wins: Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Jacob Elordi braved 10-11 hours of makeup every time he filmed as the Creature…so this one goes to him, too. (While he didn’t take home the Best Supporting Actor award, we hope he will get a little gold man statue one day.)

If you were seated in the theater for Ryan Coogler’s Sinners and walked out a changed movie watcher… you’re not alone. Your new favorite historical vampire movie achieved four wins. Ryan Coogler took home Best Original Screenplay, Ludwig Göransson took home Best Original Score, Autumn Durald Arkapaw won Best Cinematography (making her the first woman to win the category), and Michael B. Jordan was awarded Best Actor for his dazzling portrayal of both Smoke and Stack—twin brothers.

He shared, “Thank you, everybody in this room, and everybody at home for supporting me over my career. I feel it. I know you guys want me to do well, and I want to do that because you guys bet on me. So thank you for keeping betting on me.”

And for those vampire fanatics, Sinners actor Jack O’Connell, aka Remmick, sported his vampire fangs on the red carpet and popped into the “I Lied To You” live performance. Keep an eye out for thrilling cameos from blues legends and Black artists Misty Copeland, Eric Gales, Buddy Guy, Brittany Howard, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Jayme Lawson, Li Jun Li, Bobby Rush, Shaboozey, and Alice Smith.
