Citing “unforeseeable family commitments,” Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor has backed out of an appearance on this summer’s Wotalpalava tour. The tour, the first openly gay pop music festival tour of the United States, will still feature the Pet Shop Boys, Rufus Wainwright, Soft Cell, and the Magnetic Fields, as well as select appearances from the Village People and Gloria Gaynor.
Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys expressed disappointment at the cancellation, but said, “We probably have a very good replacement,” which will be announced soon. dollar of each ticket will benefit the work of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation?s largest lesbian and gay advocacy organization.
