Pink has signed a marketing agreement with health-and-fitness service provider Bally Total Fitness. The terms of the agreement call for a creative collaboration between the singer and Bally on a new hip-hop dance aerobics class called Get Your Body Started, and a national dance competition. In addition, Pink will be seen and heard in national and local print-and-television advertising for the fitness company, and she and her music will also be featured in a radio campaign.
In return, Bally will serve as the presenting sponsor of Pink’s upcoming North American headlining tour, Pink: The Party Tour 2002, which will kick off May 2 in Phoenix and wrap on June 30. Pink will join Lenny Kravitz’s tour in support of his latest album, Lenny, starting on July 12 in Virginia Beach. Pink and Abandoned Pools will open for Kravitz on the 33-date trek, which will wind down September 2 in Phoenix.
Pink recently said that she’s looking forward to hitting the road this summer: “The tour is going to be so fun! It’s my first tour, and then I hook up with Lenny Kravitz. And it’s gong to be very diverse because there’s the last album (Can’t Take Me Home) and then this album, and somehow they have to come together, so it’s going to be very interesting.”
The hip-hop dance aerobics class, created by Pink’s choreographers and Bally’s group-exercise experts, will debut in more than 400 Bally facilities throughout North America this month. The exercise class is based on the choreography from Pink’s award-winning videos and set to her music, including “Get The Party Started” from the double-platinum album, Missundaztood.
In conjunction with the exercise class, Bally will host a national Get Your Body Started dance contest that will be conducted at select Bally Total Fitness facilities throughout North America. The national contest kicks off April 30 in Phoenix and ends on June 18 in Los Angeles. Other key contest cities include New York, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta, San Francisco, and Toronto.
To participate in the contest, individuals must visit their local Bally facility and learn the dance moves featured in the Get Your Body Started exercise class. In each city, contestants will perform the choreography before a panel of judges, who will evaluate the competitors’ moves. Those earning the highest scores will win a pair of VIP Pink concert tickets and the chance to meet the pop superstar at an upcoming performance in their city. In June, a single grand-prize winner will be chosen from all of the local finalists and flown to Los Angeles for the chance to appear on-stage with Pink.
In support of the local dance competitions, Bally will host “Pink Parties” at participating locations, where fans can invite their friends and family to cheer on contest contestants and receive Pink-related prizes such as CDs and T-shirts.
