PanAmSat Corporation (NASDAQ: SPOT – news) today announced it will team up with CMT: Country Music Television and MTVi for the live webcast of “The Country Freedom Concert” on Country.com.
The concert, which will take place at 8:00 p.m. EDT Sunday, October 21, will benefit The Salvation Army’s Disaster Relief Fund for the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks. PanAmSat will donate the satellite-based Internet broadcast services.
“We are proud to be in a position to use our webcast services and resources in support of a such a worthwhile cause,” said Tom Eaton, PanAmSat’s executive vice president, global sales and marketing. “Through the Internet, we will expand CMT’s Country Freedom Concert to reach a larger audience and hopefully increase donations to the relief effort for the victims of the terrorist attacks.”
The benefit concert will feature country music’s most recognized stars, including George Strait, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Vince Gill, George Jones, Lonestar, Lee Ann Womack, Clint Black, Sara Evans, Trisha Yearwood, Hank Williams Jr., Montgomery Gentry, Diamond Rio and Earl Scruggs. The television broadcast of the event will be available on CMT, CMT Canada and VH1 Country.
Since September 11, the Salvation Army, via its Disaster Relief Fund, has served more than 2.5 million meals to rescue workers at the three crash sites and Salvation Army volunteers have contributed more than 351,000 hours of service. The Salvation Army Disaster Relief Fund is also reaching out to families impacted by the tragedy, by loss of life or employment, with emergency financial assistance.
