In an interview with Barbara Walters airing Friday (September 12) on 20/20, Sharon Osbourne admits that she briefly left her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, last spring. The separation occurred around the time their son, Jack, entered rehab for alcohol and substance abuse.
Sharon revealed to Walters that she left because Ozzy himself was abusing drugs and alcohol again. “I just said, ‘You just have to stop,’ and he didn’t. And I said, ‘Well then, I’m going,'” Sharon said.
The separation only lasted a few days, with Sharon telling Walters, “The minute I left, the next morning, he gave up drinking. But I needed to make sure that he was on a roll. That he really meant it. And, after four days, I came back to see him. And he was trying so hard. So hard. Still is clean and sober.”
Sharon Osbourne’s new syndicated daytime talk show, the Sharon Osbourne Show, premieres Monday (September 15).
Jack Osbourne told MTV that he tried to commit suicide because he was depressed over his mother’s colon cancer: “I attempted to overdose-take a whole bunch of pills and drink some absinthe.” Sharon Osbourne’s cancer is now in remission.
Ozzy and Sharon’s daughter, Kelly, has signed a new deal with Sanctuary Records. On September 30, the label plans to re-release her debut disc, Shut Up, which was issued last year on Epic Records. Kelly split with Epic shortly after the release of the album, which has sold over 155,000 copies, according to Soundscan. The new version, retitled Changes, will feature a duet between Kelly and her father on the title track, originally recorded by Black Sabbath on 1972’s Volume 4.
