Ozzy may not like to play more than two shows in a row anymore, but too much rest leaves some of his Ozzfest touring partners restless.
“There’s a lot of dead time on the road, and there are a lot of off days,” said Disturbed frontman David Draiman, whose band will play seven non-Ozzfest shows. “We start going nuts when we can’t play for a while. If we’re in touring mode, and we have the bus and the hotel and our instruments there, we want to play. We love getting in front of crowds rather than sitting around trying to think of things to do in a town that we may not be so familiar with.”
Between Ozzfest shows, Korn, Marilyn Manson, Disturbed and Chevelle will all play “Off-fest” gigs, though they won’t all be playing in the same places on the same nights. Six of the Disturbed dates will also feature Chevelle, and Korn will hop on board with both for two radio shows and with Chevelle for an additional gig. And they’ll play another six headline shows. Manson will play seven headline dates without support from anyone on the Ozzfest bill.
“Everybody pretty much is doing their own thing,” Draiman said. “There are a couple radio shows that we’re all on together. The rest are little off-date headlining dates that we like to do.”
