On the heels of their nearly sold-out Roads Outside Columbus Tour, grassroots rockers O.A.R. are set to tour the United States once again. The band is partnering up with funk-metal rockers 311 and Something Corporate for the Unity Tour and planning to hit the road July 25 through August 11th- prior to jumping on the diverse Sprite Liquid Mix tour, featuring N.E.R.D, The Roots, Talib Kweli, and Robert Randolph and the Family Band beginning August 14th in Denver.
O.A.R., considered one of the most successful DIY bands in recent history, will support their critically acclaimed new album In Between Now and Then which was touted by the New York Post as “one of the ten best [albums] of the year,” while CMJ Monthly describes the music as “anthem-like rock with workman-like reggae.” In Between Now and Then, featuring a limited edition bonus DVD, was released on May 27th and debuted at #54 on the Billboard Top 200. The album’s success, fueled by the infectious first single “Hey Girl,” is steadily climbing the Triple AAA chart and is expected to crossover to Hot AC in the next few weeks. The band recently appeared on the Conan O’Brien Show and on MTV’s “You Hear It First” and will soon appear on David Letterman on July 31.
Expected to be one of the main attractions on the eclectic Sprite Liquid Mix tour, O.A.R. will undoubtedly bring their roots rock, island vibe sound to an even broader audience. The band’s feel-good attitude, humble lyrics and cross-cultural appeal have catapulted the band from Ohio State hometown heroes to soon-to-be stadium headliners.
