Looking like a famous musician is apparently not always as glamorous as it might appear on the surface. In February, an Eminem look-alike dubbed the “Eminem Bank Robber” by police was captured after a string of bank robberies in New Jersey. Now, it’s *NSYNC singer Lance Bass’s name and likeness that are figuring prominently in a San Antonio murder trial.
Michigan native Richard Brown, 23, stands accused of murder and is on trial. He claims he fatally shot Eric Acosta, 34, in self-defense in January 2002 after he was threatened and teased about his resemblance to Bass at a party in San Antonio.
Defense attorneys argued on Wednesday (March 5) that Brown was protecting himself and he feared for his life when Acosta and a group of other men taunted and threatened him. The San Antonio Express-News reported that Brown’s attorney Ed Camara said that the men “threatened to cut him up.”
“There was a handgun in (Brown’s) pocket just in case those men were waiting to jump him,” Camara added.
If the jury finds Brown guilty, he could be sentenced to life in prison.
