Netflix is continuing its streak of pulling in stellar talent, announcing today that Academy Award-winning director Damien Chazelle has signed on for The Eddy, a new original musical drama series. Set in contemporary multi-cultural Paris the eight-episode run will focus on a club, its owner, the house band, and the chaos of the city. Written by Jack Thorne (National Treasure, This is England, Wonder),The Eddy will feature dialogue in French, English, and Arabic.
Executive produced by Chazelle, he’ll be directing two of the episodes, and will be joined by Alan Poul (Six Feet Under, The Newsroom), who will also executive produce, along with Patrick Spence (Guerilla, Fortitude) and Katie Swinden (Luther, Peaky Blinders). Original music will come from Glen Ballard (Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill, Michael Jackson’s Bad). We can’t wait to see Netflix’s newest foray into international originals, and with a team like this, double our excitement!
