Music for the Moments When… It’s a Ron Swanson Kind of Day

Ron-Swanson-APIt’s Monday morning. The thought of getting out of bed makes you want to punch a hole in the wall. There’s no bacon or eggs for breakfast, your ex won’t stop calling, and your overly cheerful co-worker won’t stop chatting your ear off about some “super fun-tastic!” projects. If any of this applies to you, you just might be having a Ron Swanson kind of day. Here are six killer tunes to get you through the day.

1.America, F*** Yeah!- Team America

It’s easy to get grumpy over the thought of going to work, but hey, at least you live in the best country on Earth. Not only are we free to say or do whatever we want, but we are known for saving everybody’s butts repeatedly. That’s right, we’re free AND bad-ass. Let freedom ring.

2.Dumpweed- blink-182

There’s nothing more frustrating than having an ex-lover on your tail, especially one that acts a bit bananas. One moment they’re a dove, another they’re a nightmare…you catch my drift. It’s pretty exhausting being with someone so unpredictable. It almost makes you wish for a relationship you had a little more control over. But seriously, if you’re with anyone even remotely similar to Tammy One or Two, my advice to you is run. NOW.

3. Eat Steak- Reverend Horton Heat

After a long hard day at the office or school, coming home to a home-cooked meal is essential to your sanity. And what’s a better meal than steak? Steak is for winners. Vegetables are for losers. This tune is great to crank to get pumped for your steak dinner. You deserve it.

4.Who Dat Girl- Flo Rida

Even the grumpiest of us need to party every once in a while. In one of my personal favorite episodes of Parks and Recreation, Ron Swanson drinks one too many shots of snake juice and turns into quite the party animal. He feverishly dances to this song and shows up everyone at the club. So if you’re looking to unwind from your usual crabbiness, take a lesson from Ron and turn up the house music.

5. Sing Sing Sing- Benny Goodman

We know your secret. Smooth jazz is your passion, and you shouldn’t be ashamed of it. Feel free to dust off that old saxophone and jam to this classic jazz tune. We won’t tell.

6. My Tales of Whiskey- Nick Offerman

Nick Offerman, the mastermind actor behind Ron Swanson, actually has a bit of a singing career. His single “My Tales of Whiskey” is a lament to his love of wood, tools, and glasses of whiskey. In other words, the finer things in life. When you’re stuck with irritating people or mind-draining situations, it’s important to remember the bottle of Scotch waiting for you at home… and the makeshift wood carpentry shop in your garage.
