mgk officially launched his seventh studio album, lost americana, on August 8, and with it, many events and pop-up shows. Following his intimate performances in New York City and Toronto, mgk, aka Colson Baker, headed back to his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, to celebrate his annual MGK Day. During the weekend’s festivities, the artist played a wild 25-song set on August 10, and it went well… almost too well.

As a massive crowd in downtown Cleveland jumped in unison to 2012 hit “Wild Boy,” he stopped the music and said, “Nothing is better than them in my headphones going ‘I need to stop it, they’re about to break the floor.’ We’re on grass, right? How did y’all break grass? Y’all felt it?…Let’s keep going, let’s vibing.”

After cutting the track short, he continued the concert with “chiller” tracks such as “beauty” and “starman” before concluding with “cliché.” Fortunately, no mgk fans fell through the shaken ground, and the night ended on a high note with a fireworks display.

The downtown Cleveland concert was full of many surprises beyond the “groundbreaking” portion of the set. mgk invited up a fan who knew all the words to “Alpha Omega” and rapped perfectly alongside him before taking the mic for the second verse. Check out the fan interaction below.
