Living Syndication, the grand prize winner of the CALL ATT ‘Battle of the Bands’ Contest, is collecting its prize – the opportunity to open on tour for an Atlantic Recording artist. A hard rock band from Dracut, Mass., Living Syndication will open for the Chicago-based Atlantic Recording artists, Kill Hannah, in Richmond, Va., Philadelphia, Pa. and Hartford, Conn., this month.
With Pervez Taufig on lead vocals, Jim Mags on guitar, Mike Durwin on bass and Gregg Irick on drums, Living Syndication has formed a sound that is starting to generate attention. Based on their performance of their original song “Choke,” the group was propelled by fan Web-based voting to the ‘Battle of the Bands’ finals. Music executives from major record labels, including Atlantic, selected them from three finalists, on the basis of musical ability, quality of musical composition and quality of lyrics.
Living Syndication’s opportunity coincides with an exciting time for Kill Hannah. Considered one of America’s most inventive and exciting rock combos, Kill Hannah has just released a new album, “FOR NEVER & EVER.” The quintet – singer, songwriter and guitarist Mat Devine, guitarists Dan Wiese and Jonathan Radtke, bassist Greg Corner and drummer Garret Hammond – seem poised to break through to the top ranks of rock.
“Kill Hannah fans will resonate to Living Syndication’s sound,” said Carol Eversen, general manager of 1 800 CALL ATT for Collect Calls. “Atlantic Records has worked with us to create a once in a lifetime opportunity for Living Syndication and exciting performances for rock ‘n’ roll fans.”
More than 1,800 unsigned artists entered the CALL ATT contest by registering online at www.callatt.com and uploading one original song in MP3 format in one of the three musical genres: R&B/ Hip Hop, Modern or Hard Rock. After an initial screening by music industry members, the 10 best songs in each genre were posted to 1 800 CALL ATT Radio for voting in each of the contest’s five rounds. Then surfers to the 1 800 CALL ATT Radio player at www.callatt.com could vote for a favorite of the 15 semi-finalists to narrow the competition to three finalists.
All three finalists won professional studio-recording time valued at $2,000 each.
Living Syndication will open for Kill Hannah on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Alley Katz in Richmond, Va., on Sunday, Nov. 16 at The Khyber in Philadelphia and on Thursday, Nov. 20 at Webster Underground in Hartford, Conn.
