As if having the Number One single in the country (according to Soundscan) wasn’t enough good news for one week in an 11 year old boy’s life, rising rap star Lil’ Romeo, was chosen to kick off *N Sync’s sold out 2001 Pop Odyssey Tour tonight in Jacksonsville, Florida.
Lil’ Romeo, whose hit single “My Baby” was the number one selling single in the country last week, will join BBMak and 3LW on the sold-out date at Jacksonville’s All-Tel Stadium (50,000 capacity). “It feels good to be performing on N’Sync’s opening night of their tour. Me and my brother and sisters are fans of theirs,” said Lil Romeo, “I think it will be a lot of fun.”
According to Billboard Magazine, Lil’ Romeo is the youngest artist ever to reach number one on a solo project and also the youngest rap artist to achieve that status. Success runs in Romeo’s family. The “A” student is the son of No Limit CEO and platinum selling rap star Master P.
Lil’ Romeo’s self-titled debut S.M.E./Priority Records album will hit stores on July 3rd. The young rapper has been keeping busy on the road while also finishing up the school year. You can catch Lil’ Romeo performing his own half hour concert special on Nickelodeon’s Teen Nick Concert Series this summer. Also, look for Lil’ Romeo on tour, coming to a city near you.
