Flavor Flav is all over TikTok championing pop girlies from the 2010s, and for good reason. The rapper and Olympics Team USA hype man shared a video with the caption, “Stream @LeightonMeester Somebody to Love and use the song in yo TikTok’s.”
The video text also reads, “Starting to hype up my girl Leighton Meester and help her family recover from the fire.” As of publication, the TikTok has 3.1 million views.
Meester, known best in alternative music spaces for her work with Cobra Starship in “Good Girls Go Bad,” has many underrated bangers, including a 2009 “Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)” cover.
Meester and husband/fellow actor Adam Brody lost their five-bedroom home in the Los Angeles Palisades wildfire. Just days before the natural disaster, the couple, who have two children together, were seen at the Golden Globes for Brody’s Nobody Wants This nominations.

And Flavor Flav’s plan to offer support to the family has worked! Per Rolling Stone, Meester’s 2014 album Heartstrings has re-entered the iTunes charts more than a decade after its release.
This isn’t the only pop star Flavor Flav has helped back onto the charts. The rapper posted not one, not two, but nine TikToks with “I’ll Do It” by Heidi Montag. Montag and her husband Spencer Pratt also lost their LA home in the wildfires. Pratt took to social media, asking his followers to stream Montag’s 2010 LP Superficial and single “I’ll Do It.” Many celebs beyond Flavor Flav showed their support, even Avril Lavigne reposted the song on her page. With so many streams, Montag hit No. 1 on iTunes and even dropped a brand-new song “Prototype” on January 17.
While these celebrities deserve support from friends, family, and fans, there are many small artists who also need your help now more than ever.
