Leaked Janet Single Released to Radio

Internet leaks of the new track by Super Bowl starlet Janet Jackson, “Just a Little While,” spurred Virgin Records to deliver the cut digitally to U.S. radio outlets Monday.

The Dallas Austin-produced song, a mid-tempo number marked by a prominent electric guitar melody, was apparently not officially chosen by the label as the first single from Jackson’s new album, “Damita Jo,” due March 30.

The track’s arrival comes just hours after Jackson’s controversial appearance as part of the MTV-produced Super Bowl halftime show on CBS, in which Justin Timberlake reached across Jackson’s leather gladiator outfit and pulled off the covering to expose her right breast. CBS said it “deeply regrets” the incident, while the NFL said it was “unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime.”

“Damita Jo” also features collaborations with longtime producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Rich Harrison and Kanye West. The artist is planning to tour this summer in support of the album, the follow-up to 2001’s “All for You,” which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold more than 3 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
