New York – Anthemic rock quintet, Embrace has found a lovely home across the pond with Warner Music Group affiliate label Lava Records. The critically acclaimed five-piece will release their epic, chart-topping UK disc Out of Nothing on Lava Records on May 03, 2005.
Out of Nothing, which debuted at #1 on the UK album chart, is the band’s best-selling album to date. The album produced by Youth (best known for his work with The Verve, Killing Joke and The Orb) features the band’s signature soaring rock balladry, complete with emotionally charged lyrics and dramatic production. During the recording of Out of Nothing, Youth pushed the band to unbeknownst levels of musicianship, which resulted in enormous sales and mass acclaim. Out of Nothing has been cited as “Colossal” by the Evening Standard and “Monumental” by Q Magazine. Time Out calls the disc “stirring and affecting,” while The Fly reports that “Embrace have written their best songs to date.”
The album, which went Gold on day of release and has now sold in excess of half a million copies in the UK, features a total of nine original tracks and the dazzling single “Gravity,” which was penned by Embrace pal and Coldplay front-man Chris Martin. Other highlights from Out of Nothing are album opener “Ashes” which debuted at #10 on the UK single chart and the uplifting, triumphant track “Glorious Day,” which fits perfectly in iPod rotation alongside artists such as Travis, Keane and Snow Patrol. Other key tracks on the album include the wistful “Looking As You Are,” and the rousing anthem “Wish ‘Em All Away.”
Embrace’s core members are brothers Danny McNamara on lead vocals & guitar and Richard McNamara on lead guitar. The band also features Steve Firth on bass, Mick Dale on keyboards and Mike Heaton on drums. Embrace first gained notoriety in 1998 with the release of their critically acclaimed album The Good Will Out, riding the Brit Pop wave of popularity alongside bands such as The Verve and Oasis. The band released two subsequent studio albums including Drawn From Memory (2000) and If You’ve Never Been (2001). Out of Nothing is a triumphant and impressive debut and the perfect introduction for US fans to embrace. For more information, go to www.embrace.co.uk.
