After releasing the deluxe version of Zac Farro-produced EP, conditions of an orphan//, in early December, KennyHoopla has released the official music video for his latest offering, “birthday card//.”
Shot in Wisconsin, the artist says of the snowy, dark visuals, “The video represents a postcard and matches the spontaneity of the song.” Despite the cold setting, the bright indie sonics will warm you right up and prep you for a KennyHoopla summer in 2026.
“This EP was about acknowledging trauma and where I am at ‘right now’ as opposed to my whole life story. I think it’s one big funeral after-party. It touches on the death of friendships, family, vices, and the piece of me this industry took away—it’s a stream of consciousness of all of that, all while I try and find a way to dance through it,” KennyHoopla says. “Most importantly, though, this EP is just as much for the listeners as it was for me while creating it. I want people to feel like they are in love for the first time again, I want people to dance while they cry, I want them to feel the way I do when I listen to my favorite artists.”

He continues, “A lot of the time, I just feel very alone, like an orphan. I’m just trying to find a home, literally and metaphorically—as a person, and as someone in the music industry. I’m trying to see where I fit in, given the circumstances of life that everyone has to go through.”
Finally, the artist notes, “I’ve spent the last three years of my life reflecting on my career in the industry. I’ve previously restrained myself from talking about deeper issues in my life—trying to compartmentalize my experiences. It’s a constant tug of war between my personal and artistic lives.”
