The pieces of Jimmy Eat World’s summer headlining tour are starting to come together, if very slowly, with eight new shows being scheduled over the next three months. Dates take the Arizona group to Canada, the Midwest, and Northeast, the earliest of these being June 19 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, according to the group’s website (jimmyeatworld.com). Opening acts will include the Promise Ring, Recover, and Desaparecidos.
Jimmy Eat World is touring in support of its breakthough album, Bleed American, which features the hit single “The Middle.”
The tour’s kick-off will follow visits to Europe for Jimmy Eat World, but is still to be announced. Meanwhile, the band remains the opening act on the Pop Disaster tour, featuring co-headliners Blink 182 and Green Day. That package appears Monday (May 13) in Birmingham, Alabama.
Jimmy frontman Jim Adkins admits to LAUNCH that he’s looking forward to some of the perks of the headlining gig. “We’re really, really appreciative to be on this tour but we have so many songs now, it’s like, we have like 35 minutes to play. Like, what do we cut? It’s kind of tough,” he says. “It’s nice when you have your own show so you don’t have to worry about that. You can stretch out and maybe, you know, have a sip of a beer or something in between a song and play a slow jam if you feel like it.”
