Jamiroquai will release their eagerly awaited 5th album for Epic Records on September 11th, 2001.
Jamiroquai’s career album sales place them firmly among the UK’s top selling worldwide acts of the last ten years. The world wide release of ‘A Funk Odyssey’, the follow up to 1999’s 4 million selling “Synkronized” album, will be preceded by a single, ‘Little L.’
‘A Funk Odyssey’ has been produced by Jay Kay with in-house Jamiroquai engineer Rick Pope. Kay has also co-written and arranged the ten track album- which constitutes Jamiroquai’s most varied and accomplished work to date. The album showcases different styles from turbo powered disco to a new harder edged sound and some sweeping orchestral soundscapes.
‘Little L’, the funk boosted, anthemic first single taken from the album, was co-written by Kay and Jamiroquai keyboardist and long time collaborator, Toby Smith. It will be accompanied by stunning remixes from Boris D, Bob Sinclar and Jamiroquai themselves.
To celebrate the launch of the new single and album, Jamiroquai will headline their first major UK gig for 2 years – an open air event at Knebworth on August 11th. Sponsored by Ministry of Sound and featuring an all star line up of DJ’s, the gig will provide an exclusive airing of tracks from the new album as well as Jamiroquai classics from previous years.
