Howie Day Explodes with Surprise Hit 'Collide

More than a year after its release, Howie Day’s STOP ALL THE WORLD NOW is blowing up, thanks to relentless touring and the recent success of surprise hit “Collide.”

The breakthrough smash rocketed all the way to No. 20 on the Adult Top 40 Airplay Chart and was recently highlighted in its entirety on the hit WB series “One Tree Hill.” After the show aired, Day’s album sales erupted, rising more than 73%. In addition, “Collide” is garnering extensive airplay on stations such as WPLJ/New York, WTMX/Chicago, WWZZ/Washington, KHMX/Houston, KRSK/Portland, KAMX/Austin, KQMB/Albuquerque and many more. A video for the song was recently filmed with director Chris Mills (Modest Mouse, Kanye West).

Earlier this year, Day performed a stunning acoustic version of “Collide” during an appearance on a European radio show. On November 16th, Epic will release that rendition and three other bonus tracks on a special version of STOP ALL THE WORLD NOW. Also featured is an acoustic version of “Brace Yourself” and two rare b-sides (“This Time Around,” “Standing In The Sun”) produced by Youth (The Verve, Crowded House, Dido) during the album’s original recording sessions at Olympic Studios in London.

Meanwhile, the ink continues to flow for STOP ALL THE WORLD NOW, the album that prompted Paste to write, “…four years and two discs in, Howie Day has learned that the real satisfaction comes not just from playing what the crowd responds to immediately, but from making music that moves him.” Wrote Blender,”…Howie Day hasn’t betrayed his coffeehouse folk roots. Like all good singer-songwriters, he still prizes sincerity over all things.” The Chicago Tribune described the album as being “lush and dramatic enough to suggest U2.”

Day, who was recently given the Boston Music Award for “Male Vocalist of the Year,” has been touring and playing to packed-house crowds across the country in support of the album. Following his current solo acoustic tour, Day will return to the road for a string of radio shows. Don’t miss your chance to catch him live.
