Iconic solo vocalist as well as Paramore leader Hayley Williams just surprise-released a song exclusively on Nashville’s public radio station, WNXP—”Mirtazapine.”

The track, a brilliant and striking pop-rock song with shoegaze elements, highlights her own mental health journey. She references Mirtazapine, a type of antidepressant, and sings, “Here comes my genie in a screw cap bottle/To grant me temporary solace/I could never be without her/I had to write a song about her/Who am I without you now?”

For those who have found significant relief with their mental health medications, this song will absolutely hit.

In response to Trump’s defunding of public media, Williams stepped up to help her public station, writing on a burned CD, “WNXP Thanks for keeping me company. Long live public radio.”

Excitingly, the radio station posted to Instagram stories noting, “Thank you to everyone who donated and helped us meet our goal today and a VERY special thank you to Hayley Williams for supporting public radio.”

Additionally, it appears that another track is on the CD. Underneath the song title “Mirtazapine” is written “Glum.” Will WNXP be premiering a second Williams song soon? Listen here to find out.

Ahead of the premiere, the station teased it on their official Instagram account. Williams, herself, commented under the post with, “thank god yall had a cd player.”

While we don’t know if and when “Mirtazapine” will be in the world on physical or digital platforms, we will be listening for it on WNXP and at the link above.
