GetMusic Cures The Summertime Blues With Exclusive Interviews, Performances And Live Chats

Continuing its mission of bringing music fans closer to the artists they love, global music media company GetMusic kicks off a stellar summer of unique programming, live events and interactive content with extensive coverage of the two-day KIIS-FM Wango Tango music festival in Los Angeles this weekend.

In addition to interviewing artists for the site, GetMusic will be the exclusive sponsor of the event’s autograph-signing tent for fans on both Saturday and Sunday, June 16 and 17. Some of today’s most popular artists are scheduled to stop by, including Dream, Eden’s Crush, Samantha Mumba, 3LW and Nikka Costa.

On Monday, innovative video interview program The A List with Anthony DeCurtis reaches two important milestones when multi-platinum act Stone Temple Pilots returns as the show’s first repeat guests in the first live The A List event (www.getmusic.com/events). Esteemed music critic DeCurtis will host the Yahoo!-powered video chat and lead a discussion with the entire group on June 18 at 9:00 p.m. ET, on the eve of the release of their fifth album Shangri-LA DEE DA. The program will later be available on-demand in The A List archives, along with other past shows featuring Peter Buck of R.E.M, Stevie Nicks, Lenny Kravitz, Dido, David Gray and The Wallflowers, among others (www.getmusic.com/alist).

Stone Temple Pilots originally appeared on the fourth episode of The A List on July 12, 2000. In just a year, a combination of revealing interviews conducted by the Grammy-winning DeCurtis, a diverse guest list and exclusive performances has helped make the show the most engaging music interview program on the Internet. Upcoming episodes include Texas legend Billy Joe Shaver debuting on Friday, June 15, up-and-comer Shea Seger on Friday, June 22, and alt-country singer/songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter on Friday, July 6, all at 12:00 p.m. noon ET. An interview with the incomparable Iggy Pop will debut later in the summer.

Weekly country news program Country Fix, hosted by GetMusic’s own Kimmy Wix, launches a new show on Wednesday, June 20 with country diva Chely Wright discussing her devotion to non-profit organization Reading, Writing & Rhythm/The Chely Wright Foundation and her forthcoming new CD, Never Love You Enough (www.getmusic.com/country/cruisin_country). Also featured are highlights from Fan Fair 2001, including Alan Jackson’s multiple wins, plus news from John Denver, Kathy Mattea, Diamond Rio and more.

On Thursday June 21 at 6:00 p.m. ET, interview/performance program The E-coustic Sessions will debut a show with alternative rock favorites Ocean Colour Scene, followed by the premiere of the Cowboy Junkies show on June 28 (www.getmusic.com/calendar/ecoustics). Hosted by GetMusic’s chat producer Nevin Martell, The E-coustic Sessions features cutting-edge bands in intimate discussions, followed by exclusive acoustic performances. Past guests include Tantric, The Dandy Warhols, Stereophonics, American Hi-Fi, Collective Soul, Idlewild and SR-71.

Music fans will have even more opportunities to connect with their favorite acts on GetMusic, thanks to several scheduled live chats, including audio chats with Eminem proteges D-12 on June 19, rising pop star Samantha Mumba on June 20, hard rockers Disturbed on June 27, soul songstress India.Arie on June 28, country legend Merle Haggard on July 3, saucy rapper Lil’ Mo on July 9 and a video chat with pop group LFO on June 25.
