Actor and indie rocker Finn Wolfhard is gearing up to release his debut solo project Happy Birthday on June 6. Today, he offered a taste of what’s to come with his new single and music video for “Objection!”
Previously, he launched singles “Trailers after dark” and “Choose the latter.” The Stranger Things actor is no stranger (no pun intended) to folk-tinged indie music with previous projects such as Calpurnia and The Aubreys. However, these recent releases are his most fully-realized and are utterly thrilling.
Happy Birthday, Wolfhard’s debut LP “was written during a year of self-reflection. The album explores themes of identity, anxiety, and coming of age. Produced by Kai Slater (Sharp Pins) and recorded across intimate spaces in Chicago, the tracks capture a raw, authentic feel—complete with the natural sounds of daily life.”
Additionally, Wolfhard took to Instagram to share, “The ‘Objection!’ video is dedicated to my grandfather who passed away soon after we made it. He was a geologist and spent much of his life outdoors, and shooting this video reminded me of him. He was an amazing man!”

Recently, Wolfhard appeared onstage with fellow Stranger Things cast member Joe Keery, aka Djo, to perform “Flash Mountain” in Toronto on The Crux Tour.
Stranger Things’ final season is currently scheduled to air in late 2025.
