Stranger Things actor and alternative rockstar Finn Wolfhard just visited Amoeba Music to do a little shopping on their interview show “What’s In My Bag?” following the release of his debut LP Happy Birthday and ahead of the final season of the hit show. In his interview, he showcased inspirations for his record and shared his adoration for fellow Stranger Things star Joe Keery, aka Djo.

During his Amoeba Music “What’s In My Bag?” segment, he pulled an array of titles, including Diamond Jubilee by Cindy Lee, The ReplacementsTim, I Am Trying To Break Your Heart: A Film About Wilco, Boogie Nights, and more.

After pulling Guided By VoicesAlien Lanes, Wolfhard said they heavily inspired Happy Birthday as they were both recorded on 4-track cassette tapes. “Cassette invi, tes imperfection, which I think is what makes music amazing…and these guys are the king of 4-track,” he said.

Wolfhard also picked up his bestie Djo’s new album, The Crux, featuring instant hits such as “Basic Being Basic” and “Delete Ya.”

He shared, “These songs are so unbelievably good, they’re so catchy, and Joe is a genius, and he’s one of my best friends. A few of us from the show are putting out records, and I’m so lucky to be around those people.”

Notably, Maya Hawke launched Chaos Angel in 2024, and Keery also rejoined his previous band Post Animal for Iron, which just arrived in July 2025.

“I asked Joe for advice on stuff, and I’m able to talk to him pretty frequently, so I’m just very proud of him,” he adds.
