Washington – Music superstar Elton John will appear in a national TV advertising campaign for the Delphi MyFi satellite radio, the first portable, hand-held unit for listening to XM Satellite Radio, the nation’s leading provider of satellite radio with more than 2.5 million subscribers.
The TV spot will premiere the week of November 15, following the November 9 release of Elton’s much-anticipated, critically-acclaimed album “Peachtree Road.”
The spot, directed by award-winning music video director and photographer David LaChapelle, features Elton and his new hit single “Answer in the Sky.”
“Elton John is one of the most important and beloved artists in music, and the MyFi is one of the most important breakthroughs in portable audio,” said Hugh Panero, President and CEO of XM Satellite Radio. “Elton’s new song is called ‘Answer in the Sky,’ and we think XM is the ‘answer the sky’ for millions of people who love our service, so it’s a terrific match.”
The five-time Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee will also take part in a trio of music specials to be aired exclusively on XM.
“The people at XM love and appreciate music the same way I do, and it’s wonderful to be working with them to share my new album, as well as share songs by artists who have influenced and inspired me,” Elton said.
Elton’s new album “Peachtree Road” will be spotlighted in a new XM series called “Liner Notes,” which debuts today at 10 am ET and 6 pm ET on the rock channel Deep Tracks (XM Channel 40) and the adult contemporary channel The Blend (XM Channel 25).
Sir Elton introduces and discusses each track on the new album, one day before it is released to the public.
Elton will also host “EJ the DJ,” a 90-minute XM special featuring the music legend as disc jockey, playing twenty of his favorite songs, old and new, from a wide spectrum of artists, ranging from Bob Dylan and Nina Simone to Joss Stone and Elvis Costello.
“EJ The DJ” will air on Deep Tracks on November 15 at 1pm ET with encores on November 19 at 12am ET and November 21 at 8pm ET.
Finally, XM is producing “The Complete Elton John,” a 36-hour spectacular in which Elton personally walks through every album he has ever made.
The program promises to be the most complete and comprehensive overview of this legendary artist ever created.
