DJ AM laid to rest in Los Angeles

Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein was laid to rest yesterday with a service at Los Angeles’ Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary.

Reports that AM’s former fiancée Nicole Richie and Good Charlotte’s Joel and Benji Madden attended the burial were said to be “inaccurate.” AM’s girlfriend, Hayley Woods, DJ Jazzy Jeff, actor Scott Caan and producer the Alchemist, who reportedly served as a pallbearer, were present at the service.

Blink-182’s Travis Barker, whose band had postponed its most recent tour dates so he could mourn the loss of his friend and collaborator, was also in attendance. Barker, who last year survived a deadly jet crash along with Goldstein, paid his respects by throwing dirt on the coffin at the burial.

AM was found dead in his New York apartment Friday following an apparent drug overdose. He was 36. As was reported yesterday, Goldstein had eight OxyContin pills in his system and one in his mouth when he was found face down on his bed.

Police believe that crack might also have played a role in the celebrity DJ’s death. The results of the toxicology report are expected in a few weeks.

A memorial will take place tonight at the Hollywood Palladium for “a gathering to celebrate the life of Adam Goldstein.” According to the invitation, the format of the evening will be in the style of an open 12-step meeting. AM’s family has asked fans to make donations to the National MS Society, Southern California Chapter, or to Friendly House instead of sending flowers.
