Civic Tour 2003 with Good Charlotte and New Found Glory Ends on a High Note

As the 2003 Civic Tour rolls to an end, nearly 400,000 music fans were entertained by one of this Spring’s best-attended tours featuring co-headlining bands New Found Glory and Good Charlotte, leaders in the new wave of pop-punk music that has taken over radio and television. Civic Tour sold-out 34 of its 50 dates in key markets such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Dallas, Denver and San Jose, proving once again that Honda continues to bring the youth market the coolest breakthrough acts on the music scene. The San Antonio Express-News took note of success of the Civic Tour, noting, “Ah, to be young again. Certainly the Honda Civic Tour is one of the best and most entertaining examples of what that means in 2003.”

Along the way, 10 lucky fans have won one of the 12 completely tricked-out customized Civic Si’s uniquely designed and autographed by either Good Charlotte or New Found Glory through various local and national media promotions, including awarding a New Found Glory Civic Si live on MTV’s popular “TRL” show. Fans still have an opportunity to win one of the customized Civic Si’s through the “Drive Away With” national online sweepstakes at civictour.com, which ends on September 2, 2003.

Members of both co-headlining bands had as much fun as the fans, and credit the Civic Tour as their best tour thus far. “We were just excited to tour with our friends, but when we found out that we’d have the chance to customize these Civics and give them away to our fans, that just pushed the entire tour idea over the edge,” said Cyrus Booloki of New Found Glory. Joel Madden of Good Charlotte couldn’t agree more, “We had an amazing time, the most fun we’ve ever had on tour.” Madden adds with a laugh, “but we still think our Civic is better than NFG’s!”

Punk rock blasting from Alpine speakers, two customized and tricked-out band cars displayed on raised chunks of asphalt, an interactive photo booth, Xbox gaming consoles, a local radio DJ spinning, band memorabilia adorning the truss units – step inside the Civic Tour Non-Stop Music Lounge by Alpine. This new addition to the ’03 Civic Tour became a huge hit as concert attendees passed through the exhibit by the thousands before and after each stop of the tour. The yellow and black inflatable tent that housed the activities was covered with the tour’s signature look and feel and became an icon for the Tour.

The 2003 Honda Civic Tour was such a hit that elements of the Civic Tour Non-Stop Music Lounge will continue on a road trek as part of “Hot Import Nights,” a premier national traveling car show. One of the customized Civic Si’s will be included in this year’s “Hot Import Nights” events, keeping the spirit of the Civic Tour around even after the last fan has left the venue. (Dates for “Civic Tour at Hot Import Nights” to be announced.)

Civic Tour is a unique promotion where music fans can catch one of their favorite bands and have a chance at winning a customized Honda Civic Si designed and autographed by that act. Created and produced by Marketing Factory, Inc., Civic Tour is bringing the Honda Civic brand closer to youthful, contemporary drivers, while offering music fans more from their favorite bands.
