Judy McGrath, President, MTV Networks Music Group, today announced that she has named Christina Norman to assume the top role at VH1 – Executive Vice President and General Manager. Christina was previously Senior Vice President of Marketing and On-Air Promotion at MTV, where she was responsible for the on and off air marketing, branding and positioning of MTV, MTV2 and MTV.com. Christina will be based in New York and will report directly to Judy McGrath.
As General Manager, Christina will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, strategy and management of VH1. In addition to guiding the channel from a creative and branding standpoint, Christina has ultimate responsibility for marketing, on-air promotion, finance, communications, research, human resources, business development and digital services, including VH1 Classic, VH1 Mega Hits, VH Uno and VH1 Soul.
In making this announcement, Judy McGrath said, “Christina is a tremendously creative executive who has a great strategic understanding for connecting with consumers, combined with a great feel for how to brand and position a network. In her 11 years at MTV, she’s proven to be a fantastic leader of creative people – cultivating an environment where they can produce their absolute best work.”

Christina will be working closely with Judy McGrath on Judy’s top priority – developing the programming strategy for VH1. Judy will be making additional announcements about programming shortly.
Most recently, Christina oversaw MTV’s On-Air Promotions, Advertising, and Affiliate Marketing departments. She was responsible for the short form visual packaging and design of the network including: the campaign to launch “The Osbournes,” featuring the comedian Jack Black; the launch and branding of the “10 Spot,” MTV’s longest running programming destination; the introduction and integration of MTV360 on air; the relaunch of MTV2; the movie campaigns for Kings of Comedy, Save the Last Dance, Orange County and Crossroads; MTV event campaigns with Chris Rock, Ben Stiller and Sam Jackson, plus countless image campaigns for various programs and pro-social initiatives.
Her leadership in the creative community is unparalleled. Under Christina’s leadership, MTV has won numerous advertising, design, and promotion awards from the Broadcast Design Association, PROMAX, CTAM and the Art Director’s Club.
Christina joined MTV Networks in 1991 as a Production Manager. She has held a succession of positions at MTV, culminating in her most recent appointment as Senior Vice President, Marketing, Advertising and On-Air Promotion. Ms. Norman is based in New York.
