Christina Aguilera Album Expected In June

After explaining “What a Girl Wants” and issuing the invitation to “Come on Over” in 1999, Christina Aguilera is acting like a “Genie in a Bottle” by granting her fans’ wishes for new material.

Aguilera’s new album, which she’s been working on in a Los Angeles studio since September, is expected to drop in June, according to an RCA Records spokesperson. Giving the platinum-topped pop singer a hand with the endeavor are producers Glen Ballard (Alanis Morissette, No Doubt) and Rockwilder (Jay-Z, Redman), keyboardist Scott Storch (Dr. Dre, Bubba Sparxxx) and former 4 Non Blondes singer Linda Perry, who recently returned from near oblivion by assisting Pink with her latest, Missundaztood.

Aguilera’s fifth release – counting 2000’s Spanish translation of her self-titled debut, Mi Reflejo, and her holiday album, My Kind of Christmas, as well as a collection of early recordings, Just Be Free, that surfaced last year – and its songs remain untitled, the spokesperson said, and the label is planning to release a single in April or May.

Fans who can’t wait that long can catch a sneak preview February 24, when Aguilera unveils a new song as part of her set during the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympic Games.

Mi Reflejo, released in September 2000, had the second-best sales figures of any Latin album last year, according to SoundScan, moving upward of 428,000 copies.
