Elder emos, unite! Cartel has officially unveiled their reimagined album Chroma – 2025, which celebrates 20 years of their iconic LP. Previously, the group shared reworked versions of “Honestly,” “Luckie St.,” and “Runaway.” Today, they also unveiled “Q&A,” which features special guest vocalist, Hey Monday‘s Cassadee Pope.

Cartel frontman Will Pugh says, “‘Chroma’ will forever be interwoven in the DNA of this band’s legacy. This time around, it serves as a cornerstone for us to build on for everything that comes next, and we couldn’t be more grateful and excited.”

Pugh adds, “Now that we’ve gotten away from some of the pettiness of the way things were in the past, it’s given us more allowance to go back to the well and not have to feel like everything’s a response to what we just did. When we were writing [2022’s] ‘17’ and ‘The End,’ all we were concerned about was what Cartel would sound like right now – not what we sounded like earlier.”

He concludes, “Thinking about having done this for over half of our lives sort of breaks the space-time continuum. It’s so cool, because it constantly feels like being rebirthed every time you hear the records.”

Beginning in September, you can catch Cartel on the 20th anniversary Chroma tour. “It’s a privilege to still have the opportunity to share this with all the people who celebrate this record alongside us,” Pugh shares. “It’s hard to put into words the level of gratitude we have for this moment, and we hope that is conveyed during this anniversary.”
