“I wrote ‘Mud’ about someone I was seeing briefly last year. I really liked him, and we went to a haunted house—then it started raining, and we both got covered in mud,” CARR notes. “It felt so cinematic that, even after our relationship crumbled, I kept romanticizing that moment. I decided to spin that feeling into a song.”
Excitingly, the track is set to appear on CARR’s forthcoming LP CARRGIRRL, arriving on March 20 via DCD2 Records and Music is Fun. Check out “Mud” below.
“Mud” Lyrics:
Why is this so complicated?
You’re overdressed, I’m agitated
You’re overthinking, intimidated
Now I’m feeling nauseated
Do you want me in your head like that?
When you’re all alone in your black snapback
Do you want me on your skin like that?
On your tongue like that?
I don’t really get why you’re playin’ it tough
‘Cause you really seemed to like me in the back of your truck
Now you treat me like I’m nothing, like I’m never enough
You drag me through the mud for nothing
I don’t really know why I’m waitin’ around
‘Cause I really seemed to like you but you let me down
Was I moving too fast? Can you keep up now?
You drag me through the mud for nothing
(You drag me through the mud for nothing)
This is feeling overrated
I know I shouldn’t entertain it
But you got me fascinated
And I’m not sure that I hate it
