Oops. A bus driver who’s part of Britney Spears’ Onyx Hotel Tour brigade failed to stay within the safety zone and is now facing charges of speeding and disobeying police.
The Tennessee trucker, who was transporting crew and equipment, led cops on a high-speed chase through New Hampshire Monday and later failed to show for his arraignment.
A trooper tagged David Raines going 78 mph in a 65 mph zone Monday morning around 7 a.m. traveling south on Interstate 93 near Northfield, according to state police.
Raines gave every indication of pulling over but then kept driving for approximately 10 miles to Canterbury where he finally stopped. The pop star wasn’t on the bus.
The 51-year-old driver was arrested but allowed to continue to Manchester to deposit crew and equipment for the “Toxic” singer’s performance Tuesday night.
He was expected in Concord District Court later that day but failed to show. As a result, Raines could lose his driving privileges in the “Live Free or Die” state as well as Tennessee.
The crew on board was allegedly asleep during the incident and was unaware of the stop.
Spears’ current tour has been plagued by more serious problems recently. The singer postponed a performance in Cleveland last Thursday due to “illness.” It was the third cancellation in as many weeks. She nixed gigs in Chicago and Detroit last month after suffering a knee injury
Barring further injuries or arrests, the pop princess is expected to take her show abroad to Europe and Asia through June before returning Stateside where she’ll wrap up August 10 in Sacramento, California.
