Britney Spears Cuts Ties With Restaurant

Whether Britney Spears is a girl or a woman, she’s no longer a restaurateur.

Spears has pulled out of Nyla, the midtown Manhattan eatery she opened just five months ago.

The pop star, who turns 21 on Monday, said in a statement that she has “terminated her relationship” with the restaurant she formed a partnership with in March because of mismanagement and “management’s failure to keep her fully apprised.”

The restaurant at the Dylan Hotel, which she named for New York and her home state of Louisiana, served Southern-inspired cuisine. But it was plagued by lousy reviews and slow business; management recently changed the menu to American food with an Italian flair.

Spears said in the statement this week, “I wish the restaurant and its current ownership continued success,” adding that she had no involvement in Nyla’s day-to-day affairs, and never earned any money or other benefits from it.
