Blink 182 feels comfortable following Green Day on the Pop Disaster tour partially due to the fact that Travis Barker’s drum set is a show-stopper. Barker’s drum kit rotates, spins, and elevates over the stage during the band’s performance.
Blink 182 singer/bassist Mark Hoppus revealed where his wacky drummer got the idea. “Travis is a big fan of Tommy Lee and I think he wanted to try and outdo him for the drum stunt thing. I haven’t actually ever seen the Tommy Lee thing, but I think it would be pretty f-king hard to beat what Travis is doing right now,” he said.
Lee was famous for wowing audiences as drummer for Motley Crue in the ’80s with his trademark elevating and spinning drum kit. The Pop Disaster Tour continues to storm North America as it hits West Palm Beach, Florida on Wednesday (May 15). The tour runs through June 17 in Minneapolis.
