Following Blind Channel’s announcement of an indefinite hiatus in fall 2024, the band shared, “During the last four years, we have experienced more than we could’ve ever dreamed of. After two full-length studio albums and 300 shows all over the world, it’s time to blow the candle out before it burns from both ends. We’ve decided to go on a break after the end of 2024. We’re not sure for how long, but it’s time to take a step back from the spotlight to ponder what the future holds.”
Now, just months after that announcement, Blind Channel vocalist Joel Hokka has officially parted ways with the band. On April 26, Hokka posted a statement to social media, explaining his decision and reflecting on the journey he shared with the group.
The group shares, “With this decision, a significant era comes to an end for all of us involved. Over time, our ways of working and our creative chemistry have naturally drifted in different directions. After much thought and mutual understanding, Blind Channel and Joel Hokka have decided to continue on separate paths. This decision doesn’t affect our friendship and love.”

“We wanna thank Joel for everything, and we wish Joel nothing but the absolute best in the future,” band members Niko, Joonas, Aleksi, Olli, and Tommi share. “For now, Blind Channel will continue as a five-member band. The band is currently on a break.”
“Twelve years is a long time,” Hokka himself shares. “The growth from high school boys to successful musicians has been a journey like no other. The past few years have pushed me to my limits, and ongoing sleep issues have made touring impossible. I’ve come to realize that the intensity of this lifestyle just doesn’t align with my health right now. I’m beyond grateful for everything these years have given me and wish my brothers all the best in their future endeavors.”
We wish Joel and Blind Channel the best in their future endeavors.
