The Backstreet Boys release their first-ever greatest-hits package, titled The Hits: Chapter One, on Tuesday (October 30). The 13-song collection includes the group’s new single “Drowning” and also comprises songs from the group’s 1996 album Backstreet Boys, 1999’s Millennium, and last year’s Black & Blue. In conjunction with the album release, the group will also release a VHS/DVD video titled The Video Hits: Chapter One on November 6.
Singer Brian Littrell revealed that the Backstreet Boys had little trouble when it came time to select their favorite songs. “You know, we always agree on what the best song is for us as a group. Consistently we have done that in the past, up until now,” he said. “That’s what we always keep our focus on, is the material, recording the right music, the right sound-being pioneers, so to say, in changing the way music has become in the past couple of years with our sound. And a lot of people have come along and do our sound now, which is kind of a compliment, so to say, but we’re always looking to better ourselves and better the music industry.”
The full tracklist for the U.S. version of The Hits: Chapter One includes: “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart),” “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back),” “I Want It That Way,” “As Long As You Love Me,” “All I Have To Give,” “I’ll Never Break Your Heart,” “Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely,” “Larger Than Life,” “Shape Of My Heart,” “More Than That,” “The Call,” “The One,” and “Drowning.”
