The amount of formative records hitting their 20th anniversary in recent memory is enough to make your back hurt just thinking about it. Sean Mott of Metalcore Nerds recently spoke with Atreyu guitarist Travis Miguel about celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Curse, the band’s breakout album from 2004.
The band is just days away from their sold-out anniversary show in Southern California with Eighteen Visions and Death By Stereo, followed immediately by two consecutive performances at When We Were Young. The weekend will be dedicated to celebrating the album that set the band up for success.
The 20th anniversary vinyl reissue has sold out, but you can still get some throwback merch for The Curse here. Check out a snippet of their chat below and Mott’s full chat with Miguel here.
The Curse was a pretty seminal record for me as I was growing up and learning guitar. One of my friends even had the Dan Jacobs signature guitar with the blood spatter on it. It was a big deal in my local music community. The year is coming to a close. Are there plans to celebrate the album anymore?
We will definitely be doing more The Curse related stuff in 2025. We’re literally in the middle of getting our ducks in a row and figuring it all out. I can’t divulge too much information right now, but yes there will be more.
Cool, I was just wondering. Just on the West Coast? No East Coast love? No Midwest love? Nothing?
We’re gonna spread it out for sure.
Atreyu is releasing The Pronoia Sessions, which includes reimagined versions of their biggest songs over the years on November 8 via Spinefarm. You can pre-order the album here.
