Atlantic Vice President of Marketing & Product Development Lee Stimmel has announced that Madelyn Scarpulla has joined Atlantic Records as senior director of product development, and will be based at the company’s New York headquarters. Scarpulla was most recently Senior Director of Marketing at Columbia Records.
In making the announcement Stimmel commented, “Madelyn comes to Atlantic with a richly diverse background which encompasses marketing, sales, product management, promotion, artist management, and radio programming. Her years of experience, wide-ranging knowledge, and infectious enthusiasm make her ideally suited to pull together the many strands of a project and oversee the spectrum of elements which make up a successful modern marketing campaign. I’m very pleased to welcome her to our department and to the Atlantic family.”
Scarpulla began her music industry career in 1985 in the programming and promotions department of radio station WIYY in Baltimore. In 1987, she joined PolyGram Records as local promotion manager for the mid-Atlantic region. Scarpulla moved to New York City two years later to become a product manager at PolyGram. She then shifted to artist management, joining Horizon Entertainment, where she worked with John Mellencamp and other artists. In 1993, she was appointed director of sales & marketing at Arista Records, following which she returned to the PolyGram fold as senior director of marketing at Mercury Records. In 2000, she moved to Columbia Records, also as senior director of marketing.
