A spokesperson for Arista Records, home to TLC, denies that group member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes has joined the ranks of Suge Knight’s Tha Row Records.
When asked to confirm accounts made to LAUNCH by Tha Row publicist Jonathan Wolfson, the Arista spokesperson replied, “Not true. No comment.”
Wolfson revealed on Wednesday (January 2) that Lopes had indeed signed with Tha Row Records and that her album would be released soon (LAUNCH, 1/2). Wolfson’s statement confirmed a recent news entry on Tha Row’s website, which also noted that Lopes has changed her name to Nina.
Lopes’s solo album, Supernova, was originally scheduled to be released on Arista in August 2001, but was rescheduled for October. The album was streamed online, but has not been released in the United States. It has been issued in the U.K.
According to an online retail site in the U.K, the following is the track listing for the U.K. version of the album: “Life Is Like A Park,” featuring Carl Thomas; “Hot!”; “The Block Party”; “Let Me Live”; “Jenny,” featuring Jazzy Pha; “I Believe In Me”; “Rags To Riches,” featuring Andre Rison; “True Confessions,” featuring Angela Hunte; “Untouchable”; “Head In The Sky,” featuring Blaque; “The Universal Quest,” featuring Esthero; and “A New Star Is Born,” featuring Tangi Forman.
