“Apple Shuts Down iTunes” *gasp* “Apple Closes iTunes” *big eye emoji face* “NO MORE ITUNES FOR YOU” – wait, what? Apple announced on May 31st that iTunes will be replaced by three separate desktop apps: one for podcasts, one for music, and one for TV. So while the statement that Apple will “shut down” iTunes is true, it’s more correct to say the application/store will be replaced by a suite of—likely more efficient—apps. This makes perfect sense as the company prepares to launch Apple TV+ in fall 2019, their response to the surge of streaming entertainment platforms Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference keynote is today at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET where more info about the expansion of Apple as an entertainment service will be shared along with other software developments.
