Angels & Airwaves (and Tom Delonge!) are BACK!

HELLO. This is not a drill. ANGELS AND AIRWAVES are back.

I’ve always been a huge Blink 182 fan. Chesire Cat days into Dude Ranch, Pennywise, early Less than Jake, the Punk O Rama days, Rancid having “Ruby SoHo”, Goldfinger “Here in your Bedroom” I mean let’s go baby. River Fenix opening for Bad Religion opening for Blink on tour? Went to multiple dates of that when I was literally in middle school and clueless about anything except my oversized shorts, my vans (later MacBeth shoes) and wearing a long sleeve shirt with the t-shirt over it – a staple of Mr. Tom Delonge at the time.

In fact, my first time ever being on TV was when I was a junior in high school and I won a casting call, and eventually the whole entire show in MTV’s Becoming Presents: Blink 182. We did the “First Date” music video and I won as Tom Delonge.

From there I met various casting people, some who went to MuchMusic USA when it moved from Canada, and then ultimately turned into Fuse. And that’s how I started in television–going to classes senior year of high school and then literally lying to my parents and taking the train into New York so I could see how TV worked and behind the scenes and also be in the live audience for shows such as “IMX,” and “Daily Download” which I actually ended up doing some on air hits for!

HAVING SAID ALL THAT. FOCUS GUNZ, FOCUS.

ANGELS AND AIRWAVES are back! I always loved the direction Tom went with this. It had its spacial tones and repetitive and infectious riffs and bass lines…not to mention amazing drumming including one of my favorites – Ilan Rubin who is so damn good… Songs like “Valkyrie  Missile” and “Do It For Me Now” when Tom screams “yeah just hold on, hold on to meeee…” I mean damn I took the long way home just to hear that album will play out.

Well for the first time in 5 years, AVA is back with their song “Rebel Girl,” which you can listen to below. I dig it. I really like it. It’s a mixture of old AVA with a modern twist that also lends itself back with like an 80’s feel. Does that make any sense? If not, just listen to the song and you’ll see.

Also the band is touring for the first time in 7 years and it’s going to rule. Tickets go on sale this Friday and more info can be found at AngelsandAirwaves.com.

Follow me on twitter for more Angels and Airwaves moments and me screaming AVA lyrics.
