Alanis Morissette returns tomorrow (February 26) with Under Rug Swept, her fifth album and her first since 1998’s Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie. The collection features first single, “Hands Clean,” and guest appearances by the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, Stone Temple Pilots guitarist Dean DeLeo, former Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery, and renowned bassist Me’Shell Ndegeocello.
Morissette said that the effort explores a tried and true theme, if in her own unique way. “This album is a snapshot of my delving into relationships, particularly romantic ones, in a way that I haven’t before. My priorities have always been sort of expressing myself and traveling, career, and evolving in many ways. And lately, I’ve put a little bit more attention to relationships. You’d never know it by looking at my relationships.”
Morissette is promoting the release with an onslaught of television appearances over the next two days. Today she can be found on the Late Show With David Letterman and Bravo’s Musicians while also taping guest spots on the View and the Charlie Rose Show for airing on a date to be determined. On Tuesday, Morissette stops by Last Call With Carson Daly, the Rosie O’Donnell Show, and TRL, while also making an in-store appearance at Virgin Records in New York’s Times Square.
Morissette will also be the Tonight Show With Jay Leno on April 4 and Saturday Night Live on April 20.
