Ahead of the release of their anthemic new full-length album, Ghost Town Road, Smallpools stopped by the idobi Radio Studios in Los Angeles, CA, to perform their January 2024 hit release, “Night Shift.”
“Sometimes we get stuck in a routine that we can’t break out of,” the group shared at the time of the track’s release. “The nightshift provides a comfortable anonymity, but we wanna find more. Will we bring to life a dream that still lingers within or remain in this loop that is the night shift.”
Stripping away the shimmering guitars, pulsating percussion, vibrant synths, and infectious energy of the original, Smallpools‘ idobi session offers a raw and intimate reimagining of “Night Shift.” Relying heavily on Sean Scanlon’s soaring vocals, which echo with feeling throughout the room, and a stripped-down acoustic guitar, the performance transforms the indie-rock anthem into a deeply personal interpretation.
Watch Smallpools perform “Night Shift” below and make sure to tune in again to hear the group perform their breakout hit single, “Dreaming,” live at the idobi Radio Studios.
Of their new album, vocalist Sean Scanlon recalls, “I feel like our debut EP was a definitive body of work. We were dialed in. With this project, we’re dialed back in.” Check out Ghost Town Road and the album’s full tracklisting below.
